Currently head coach of the Cal State North Ridge Matadors, Reggie Theus spent the majority of his NBA playing career with the Chicago Bulls and Kings (Kansas City & Sacramento) organization.  He was All-Rookie first team in 1979 and runner-up NBA Rookie of the Year.  Theus was a 2 time NBA All-Star with a career average of 18.5 points and 6.3 assists per game.  (19,015 points & 6453 assists career) Theus played college ball at UNLV under legendary coach Jerry Tarkanian and was inducted into the school's Hall of Fame in 1997.  Theus is one of only 8 Runnin' Rebels to have their jersey retired.

Theus first head coaching job was at the University of New Mexico where he turned the 6-24 Aggies into a 16-14 squad, the fifth largest turn-around in NCAA Division 1 history.  He returned to the NBA  and spent 1+ seasons as head coach of the Sacramento Kings.  After several years as an assistant coach of the Minnesota Timberwolves, Theus was hired in his current position as head coach at Cal State North Ridge .

A career in professional basketball is not particularly conducive to the life of a sportsman, particularly that of a hunter.  Nevertheless, Theus is a life-long bow hunter, a passion which he enjoys to this day.  Theus has harvested a number of big game animals with his bow and is planning a trip to Africa to pursue  one of his"bucket list"  species, the cape buffalo with bow and arrow.
