James Swan Ph.D.

   James A. Swan, Ph.D. is Co-Executive Producer of the “Wild Justice” series on the National Geographic Channel and CEO of Snow Goose Productions, LLC. His documentary “Endangered Species: CA Fish and Game Wardens,” is the inspiration for the “Wild Justice” series. A recent project is as a co-writer for the documentary “Falconer: The Sport of Kings”. Winner: Best Film and Script, Skyfest Festival, 2013; Award of Merit: Accolade Film Festival and The INDIE Fest, 2013 and several others.

          

  Dr. Swan previously was a university professor of environmental studies, environmental communications and outdoor recreation at the U. of Michigan, U. of Oregon, W. Washington State U. and U. of Washington from 1970-1978, during which time he helped found the fields of environmental psychology and environmental education. He began writing and producing documentaries in the 1970’s and has since written for and consulted on over 100 produced TV shows and documentaries including the series “NOVA,” “Sightings,” Ancient Mysteries,” “Modern Marvels,” “Bushnell’s Secrets of the Wild,” “Sports Afield TV,” and “Engel’s Outdoor Experience,” and an ESPN Special.  He’s been a judge in the Jackson Hole Wildlife Film Festival three times. He’s the author of 10 non-fiction books on human aspects of environmental conservation that have sold over 250,000 copies and over 800 articles and columns that have appeared in a wide variety of magazines, including a decade as a columnist for ESPNOutdoors.com. He is currently a Contributor to the Outdoor Wire. He also has appeared as an actor in 20 feature films including "Murder in the First", "Star Trek:First Contact" and "Nine Months," three dramatic TV series, and 30 industrials, commercials and print ads.
